SUMMARY
The Engineer Intern position offers a variety of opportunities including basic engineering tasks related to product design, prototype designs and modifications to existing product or equipment.
Activities can include but are not limited to data analysis, analysis methodology improvement projects, software improvement projects, design for manufacturer studies, creating or modifying tool designs, processing cause and corrective actions for non-conformances, creating and revising production work instructions, component or integrated systems test, develop design changes to resolve operational issues, revises product and processes to enhance product quality, design integrity, reliability and manufacturability. Create three-dimensional models, two-dimensional drawings, working layouts and master drawings of product components, assemblies and systems from specifications, sketches, models, prototypes, or verbal instructions. Create Material Masters and Bill of Materials in SAP. Range of products includes dehydration equipment, desiccant dryers, refrigerated dryers, filtration, fabricated metal pressure vessels, pneumatic valves, piping, and electronic controllers.
Interns will typically support one or more experienced engineers in performance of assignments, spend time shadowing actual operations, and have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of engineering.
PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with other engineers and other departments, vendors and/or customers with general problem solving.
- Create three-dimensional models and two-dimensional drawings of mechanical components and equipment.
- Support Manufacturing with technical guidance and problem solving.
- Create, read and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&ID) and flow process drawings.
- Create, design and revise layouts, schematics, details, and assembly drawings from mark-ups.
- Create Bill of Materials.
- Create and manage drawing identification numbers and drawing files in database.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Proficient with computers and MS Office software.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Must be working toward a BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
